Tommy Ducks was a pub that was controversially demolished to make way for an office block. The Daily Express building is on Great Ancoats Street. The Castle is a pub on Oldham Street. There used to be three Yates's wine lodges on Oldham Street. The middle Yates's is now Matt and Phreds Jazz Club. The Millstone is a pub on Thomas Street that boasts a lively afternoon cabaret. Tib Street used to be known for its pet shops.Woolworth's which also closed after a fire is now a Travelodge and retail units.The China Lane Chippy (Fish and Chip shop) was just off Piccadilly.
