The Height of Haiku Challenge, Day 17 - Winter

Welcome to Day 17 of The Height of Haiku Challenge, where your challenge is to write 30 haiku in 30 days. The prompt today is WINTER suggested by Priyanka Bhowmick

Here's mine:

WINTER

His arms branch upwards
Like a tower scraping skies
Leafless not lifeless

  1. While it's easy for me to visualise winter as a tall, skeletal figure... what makes you think it's a he? Very evocative - just goes to show you don't need many words to make a powerful effect.

  2. Loved the suggestion of leafless tree tops which gives the impression of bareness, and snowy lids to top them, preserving the life within!!
