Written for the Read Write Poem prompt.
Inspired by Rick Mobbs Portrait of Nanda.
NANDA
Watering eyes
Faithfully watching
Peeling garlic
Dreading Vladimir’s return
Falling asleep
Eyes open knife ready
Silver bullet handgun drawn
Dead men don’t bite

OOh. I hadn't seen that look in her eye until now. Good one.
ReplyDeleteI was hoping to see some poems that made me look at the paintings in different ways. This one did it. Great work
ReplyDeleteA very dramatic poem, this. loved it.
ReplyDeleteI'm a vampire, I'm afraid the light will set me on fire.
ReplyDeleteI love it.
ouch! a very sharp (no pun intended) and imaginative take on the painting. nicely done
ReplyDeleteThanks Brad, She's got weird eyes..
ReplyDeleteHi Nathan, I've been having a look at other peoples interrpretations too and there's some good stuff being written.
Thanks Anthony, I'm still thinking about your angels.
Hi Noah, who was it that said: and the word ignites the flame?
Hi THW, thanks for the comment!
This is great! I'll send it to nanda, maybe you'll hear from her!
ReplyDeleteThanks Rikkitikki, Nice to hear from you..
ReplyDeleteInteresting how you interpreted her wide eyes as murderous. I didn't see that. But everyone views painting from their own perspective. Anyway, your poem stands on its own.
ReplyDeleteHi Christine, I just thought that Nanda needed some protection from Vladimir, I didn't really think of her as being murderous just scared that he was going to bite her.
