JIB GIBOLSKI
Do the jib, man
do the 'spare rib'
take the short cut.
Do the jib, Gibolski!
Jib, jib, jib.
Okay, yah!
I'll do my best. To,
Do the jib, Gibolski!
Do the jib, man
do the 'spare rib'
take the short cut.
Do the jib, Gibolski!
Jib, jib, jib.
Okay, yah!
I'll do my best. To,
Do the jib, Gibolski!
They've got sat nav!
Sat what? They'll be
sat there 'til Sun. or Mon!
Do the jib, Gibolski!
Amber Gambler?
Jump the light...
flash the sensor.
Do the jib, Gibolski!
Don't just sit there;
make a left...
take a right.
Do the jib, Gibolski!

I WISH!!!
I wish that you
could come to
visit and never
go away.
'cos you know,
I love you so,
I told you
yesterday!
I wish that you
would stay
forever, much
like once before.
I wish that you
could come for
crimbo, not just
Christmas day.
'cos you know,
I love you so,
I told you
yesterday!
I wish that you
would stay for
New Year, and
never go away!
Don't you know,
I love you so?
I told you
yesterday!

Only problem is, they're not all proper jibbers, most of them are just bad drivers.
ReplyDeleteJust visiting the RWP post - must dash.
Hi Stan, you're right, everyone thinks they know the Jib these days but they take the short cut and then sit there at the lights. Like all this sat nav nonsense, everybody's on the same route so they still get stuck. Anyway!
ReplyDeleteWell, I haven't driven since 1984, so for a while I was wondering what you were doing sat on the lav.
ReplyDeleteAt least, with not driving, if I arrived, I'd have to stay :-)
Hi Anthony, you really don't want to drive, with all those jibbers about!
ReplyDeleteCrimbo, jibbers?
ReplyDeleteBrits have cool slang.
Hi Philip, we've got slang and then we've got rhyming slang. Example: the rhyming slan for Jib is spare rib.
ReplyDeleteJib of course is slang for jumper, but not a lot of people know that.
To jib in is to jump in front, perhaps.
thanks for doing the read write prompt! :) i like how you repeat the part (remind the listener) that you told them you loved them yesterday.
ReplyDeleteFun, jazzy reads! I hope she stays.
ReplyDeleteI live in a rural area so don't have to deal with traffic very often, thank goodness!
ReplyDeleteSomehow, I can see people dancing to this!
And hope your wish comes true! A guy who writes poetry? What could be more perfect? She'd be nuts not to stay!
I so like it, another one that sings...
ReplyDeleteLove the "music" of these lines. The "rule-breaking prompt" adds an interesting layer to the reading experience, too, making me wonder about these characters, how it might be breaking the rules for this plea to be made. The word "crimbo" is a new one for me, so thanks for that, too. ...And I feel like using the chorus, "'Cos you know / I love you so / I told you yesterday!" to sing to my son!
ReplyDeleteThanks Carolee!
ReplyDeleteThanks Suea@Tumblewords, and me too!
Hi Linda, if only life was so cut and dried!
Hi Annamari, sometimes they sing back to me!
ReplyDeleteHi DP, I think the Jibber's in the first piece are the real rule breakers here. Although, what I had in mind with the crimbo rhyme was an adulterous or forbidden relationship - but that's where it stayed - as a sin of thought or wishful thinking, rather than one of deed. Glad you like my little chorus!
i agree--your work sings--almost like they are meant to be song lyrics!
ReplyDeleteThanks artpredator, you can sing them if you like...
ReplyDeleteExcellent. I'll bring the harmonica and a couple of six packs.
ReplyDeleteThanks Brad, I guess it's barbie season down your way, now.
