WHAT MARGERY DAW SAW
We saw what Margery Daw saw
She saw Johnny's see-saw for sure
Up and down it went cutting wood
Cutting wood as fast as he could
Johnny can't work any faster

The master standing over him
Coercing him to work harder
Intimidating the poor boy
Threatening him with the workhouse

Working for a penny a day
In his mind a skipping rope song
A playground ride going plink plonk
