Napowrimo 26/Conclusion

NaPoWriMo 2026

CONCLUSION

It's been a busy time again this year, but congratulations to everyone who completed or even attempted the thirty poems in thirty days challenge. I don't feel I made any significant breakthroughs this year with my writing, however, I did manage to add a few pieces to my 150 word challenge collection and a couple of numbers to my Shakespeare's end line rhymes collection. So happy writing, have a wonderful summer and who knows, we may all be back here again next April.

LAKE FISH

She always ate five courses for dinner

sometimes at lunchtime too

Bread and red wine was always her starter

antipasto with olives and cheese

Her next course or first course as she called it

she would order carbonara

Then for her secondo or her main course

it would always be fresh fish from the lake

Lake fish everybody loves that she said

wolfing it down with a side salad

For her sweet pudding dolce or dessert

she always chose tiramisu

Napowrimo 2025/Conclusion

 MAY ONE

NaPoWriMo 2025

CONCLUSION

You can read all of my entries from this years April Challenge and sixteen previous years of NaPoWriMo on my StraightTalkingStreetTalkingSweet bloggage at SEWINA.BLOGSPOT.COM

Okay, congratulations to all who have completed or even attempted this years April Challenge.

I've been doing this for a few years now and as ever I'm not very happy with the result of my effort. However, I have managed to write one or two pieces towards collections of poetry that I started many moons ago. Perhaps, I will never be able to finish them, but any progress is valuable. What you must realise is that whatever you write, on a poem-a-day basis is only ever going to qualify as a rough first draft, unless you are very lucky or extremely skilful. On that basis I am fairly happy with the work I have produced and I know that I can improve upon each poetic slice in the future.

Finally I will now publish my conclusion poem below:

SOONER OR LATER

Pedestrian as a Zebra crossing

Jaywalking on a Scalextric chicane

Drinking for England but not to get high

Don't wait for the last bus get this one home

Football was never like this in the park

Drunk and disorderly for beginners

Cricket wickets down for goalposts again

Up in court not for the first time surely

Who told you that everything is okay

Sooner or later you will know the truth

Upsetting as it may be to tell you

Nothing is going to change very soon

14th/Conclusion

Napowrimo 2022

CONCLUSION

Phew, another NaPoWriMo completed, this year was my fourteenth go at doing the thirty poems in thirty days challenge. I'm happy to say that I managed the task once again and that I was able to add several pieces to my collection of 150 word nonsense poems, some of which I offered up for the NaPoWriMo challenge others I have simply kept to be edited for my booklet whenever it is published. So congratulations to everybody who completed or even attempted this years challenge. Looking forward to next April when some of us may well do it all over again. Andy 01052022

2019/Conclusion

Global/NaPoWriMo 2019

CONCLUSION

I wasn't sure how things were going to pan out this year, as we were away in the Philippines for the first couple of weeks, and my intention was to do a few more pieces for the Plymouth collection which I started last year after we came back. However, I did a follow up to a poem I wrote a few years ago called 'Hello Am I even Home' and I ended up doing several more to start yet another collection. I'll add the latest one below but before I go I must say congratulations to everybody who completed this years NaPoWriMo challenge.

HELLO AM I EVEN SOBER
I bought her an Easter egg she loves Easter
and she eats hot cross buns all year round
I only eat them on Good Friday
a few days after Easter she still hadn't eaten her egg
so I asked her when we were going to eat it
she laughed but I wasn't joking

I love chocolate I hid some in the house
but I can't find it now
sometimes I can't remember what I do with things

My friend asked me to wish him luck in the
London Marathon and said he managed three hours
twelve minutes and three seconds last year
this year he's going to try and beat that but he says
he usually gets bored and turns the TV over

Football's like that too the goalkeepers are so good
these days that it's hard to score
I took a penalty at Wembley and booted the ball
over the bar the next time I got the ball I beat five men
and scored I was the hero as we lifted the FA Cup
I dropped the lid and the noise woke me up

I dream about all sorts of things sometimes I dream
that I have been smoking cigarettes but
I gave up fourteen years ago
the other day I dreamt that I was an alcoholic
drinking two bottles of vodka a day
hello am I even sober

But the worst thing I hate is taking all those tablets
every day they tell me its time to take them and
I fall asleep when I wake up they've gone
who are they any way who's helping who
don't take tablets unless you have to

NaPoWriMo 2017 Conclusion

CONCLUSION

Well, what can I say? First of all congratulations to all my fellow challengers and poetic friends for completing yet another NaPoWriMo. This was my ninth year, and I probably produced some of my worst work ever. It is always difficult to produce something fresh and new on a daily basis, and this April was particularly hard for me. Many thanks for reading my posts this year. I will leave you with my May Day Poem:

AND ANYTHING BIGGER THAN RHINOCEROS
Attributes distribution retribution and anything bigger than Rhinoceros
The city grows exponentially as the mean number of poor people increase
Nobody knows the fine art of devaluation like the corrupt official
Bent as a nine bob note he goes straight for the proverbial jugular
Dollars and cents were never this important before the great wall of Chihuahua
All these self important people running around chasing their own tails
They’ll tell you anything they think you want to hear like it or not sideways
We’re both doing the same thing in different back yards digging doesn’t help
When the balloon goes up everybody gets burnt not just those that play with fire
We all try to make our mark sometimes too casually perhaps maybe someday…
Be careful what you wish for she’s got a ball and chain welded to that railing
Her smile is deadly and her voice will mesmerise you if you let it happen
Love is just out of reach just beyond the fence that you can’t jump over
But different cities will flash through your memory as you tune back in
Who are you and how often do you come to this great place to pray?
He walks out of the cathedral blinking in the warm sunlight outside
Everybody’s a number now they have all been fish chipped and tattooed
She thinks I’m looking for her following her in the rain with a broken umbrella
He went to the tailors bought a new suit had it altered smart as a Munchkin
Miss-jointed disappointed un-anointed and anything bigger than Rhinoceros
