Day Ten

NaPoWriMo 2016

Day Ten

The prompt at NaPoWriMo today was
to write a book spine poem. I chose five
books from my bookcase and wrote the following:

UP ON THE BOOKCASE
Up on the bookcase she’s still writing plays
Adventures melt titles leap off the shelf
Ben Okri – An African Elegy
Books with a bit of wear and tear like Skin

Ten Short Plays – Nicola Batty & co
Memories of places we used to go
Guide to the Musée d’Orsay - in Paris
Modigliani on the hotel wall

The Weirdstone Of Brisingamen – Garner
The very last book that she ever bought
Debut On Two – a BBC Books book
Up on the bookcase with her play inside

NaPoWriMo 2011 Day Eleven

Brenda put a wordle together for todays prompt.
Laugh, Corrugated, Gloomy, Hovels, Words, Feeble,
Crucial, Hum, Cobwebs, Dandelion, Scrambling, Ash.

SHOUTS FROM THE TOP FLOOR
Scrambling over hot Parisian coals,
the heat underfoot making his feet bleed,
He stumbles on the ash in the attic.
Taking a slurp of dandelion soup.
The corrugated cardboard cut-out girl
at the counter starts to laugh as he hums.
Words escape as she sings a feeble song,
the cobwebs vibrate in the gloomy room.

It's crucial that these hovels be demolished soon!
a do-gooder shouts from the top floor of Modigliani's house.

Rockin' Chair Writers. Prompt #2.

NO MATTER WHERE YOU WALK
Montmatre to Montparnasse
Sorbonne to Pigalle.
Fifth Avenue to Forty second street
and Broadway.
No matter where you walk
these streets sing
and those walls talk.
If this was Paris
or New York
these streets would sing
those walls would talk.
But this is England
and it hums and it hums.
London and its rubber drums
Manchester and her slums...
