Song # 699

STILT QUILT SLEEPING
You're waiting and I'm waiting for you too...
Two three four five, it's time for you to call
Calamities aside you're waiting still
Stilt Quilt sleeping like an eternal night

Ever even Eve even Eva eve
Evenings will come and go, don't you know?
Knowledge for the unwise is dangerous...
Is dangerous, like love for both of us

And food to feed the soul when winter comes
Comely in the parlour of sweet delights
Delightful, and the meaning's yet unfound
Unfound in the still unbound book of time

Yet, you're waiting yet, and I'm waiting too...
Two three four five, it's time to play the fool!

Song # 698

ONLY THE LONELY

(WOULD SAY THAT, SHE SAYS)

She says, I’m waiting for you to respond

Respondez vous I’m still waiting for you

You and the monkey, I saw in the zoo

Zooted and booted and out on the town

Where are you going at such a late hour?

Our little love nest that no one can guess

Guess who said that, at the Music Street ball?

Balancing on the gym bench in the hall

We met in Swan Lake, across from the pits

Pitiful picturesque cinema joke

Joking that only the lonely would go

Gone with the wind, These foolish things, and you…

Everyone’s friend, Shakespeare said: Dream on!

Only the lonely would say that, she says

Repeat

Song # 697

SUZIE WONG
Who wrote that song
That went so wrong
Oh Suzie Wong
It's been so long

I still love you
The things you do
Yesterday too
I'm still not blue

Back to Hong Kong
Bing bang bing bong
Resounds the gong
Ding dang ding dong

I still love you
The things you do
Yesterday too
I'm still not blue

Back to Hong Kong
Bing bang bing bong
Resounds the gong
Ding dang ding dong

Who wrote that song
That went so wrong
Oh Suzie Wong
It's been so long

Performance - 24 June 1999

Here's a fun piece I performed some time ago...

WALK THE GOLDEN MILE
Jon's got knots in his 'kerchief
an' it covers his bald swede

Jon wears socks like lots of Scot's
right up to his knees

Jon sports placky braces
to hold up his daft shorts

Jon don't wear a tee shirt
so he's got a lobster tan
(with white stripes where his braces go)

An' everyone who sees Jon says
I 'ope he doesn't sneeze

Get back to Blackpool Jon
and walk The Golden Mile

Where even your mad jelly shoes
won't raise a bloomin' smile
