Global/NaPoWriMo 2019

Day Eleven

ACCIDENTALLY WAITING
Accidentally planned on purpose we drive along the
street with no name to the road that goes to nowhere
pero no one really cares they're only here for the ride
they say that taking part is more fun than winning nine
times out of ten everywhere is about two hours or more
from anywhere else in Metro Manila and the heat doesn't
help much pero why would it we pass a dozen restaurants
on every avenue that aren't restaurants at all they are just
hamburger joints with sweet spaghetti pero that's the way
they like it we couldn't live without it they tell me they tell
me lots of things and then change the plans at the last minute
without telling me or when it's too late for me to do anything
about it that's why sometimes I think some things are like an
actual preconceived incident accidentally waiting to happen

Here's another version :

ACCIDENTALLY WAITING II
Incidents accidentally purposely waiting to happen
We drive up streets with no names looking for the road to nowhere

But no one cares they're only here for the roller coaster ride
The taking part is more fun than winning nine times out of ten

Journeys by car in Metro Manila take two hours or more
The heat is relentless but the air conditioning helps much

We pass by dozens of restaurants on every avenue
American brands not restaurants at all hamburger joints
They all sell Filipino sweet spaghetti 'cos they like it

They tell me things lots of things then change the plans at the last ditch
Without telling me or when it's too late for me to change much

Actually that's why I often sometimes think things are like this
Preconceived incidents accidentally waiting to happen

Global/NaPoWriMo 2019

Day Four

CONTROVERSY
Multinationalisation hasn't that been tried before
Colonisation empire building internal feuding

The clocks were ticking till the hour came and went confusion
All of the money spent on pay rises for the gentrified

Sit down order in the Commons chaos in the House of Lords
Missus Mayhem and your Oxbridge party chums boohoo uproar

Never mind the rough sleepers the disabled the job seekers
The unwaged and the working poor keep them begging on the floor

Okay if the leavers really don't know what they voted for
What about a referendum a general election

Some cast their vote upon the moat and it came back soaking wet
Let's have a vote for those that didn't bother to vote at all

Let's put the cat amongst the pigeons show the dog the rabbit
Chuck a Welly or three throw the boot in sideways hobnails up

Or should we turn the other cheek as the towers rise up high
Power mad they want to scrape the sky above our city streets

The ill gotten investment still pours in from banks in Brasil
Abu Dhabi and Hong Kong so what's so wrong with tinned corned beef

Fair trade coffee that some tea leaf said was free but where's the bread
The tainted bread and honey for the Tulip from hamster jam

The self-serve check-outs at the local store and that one world faith
Controversy of religiosity by the back door

Global/NaPoWriMo 2019 Introduction

2019 INTRODUCTION
Hi, I know I said that last year was going to be my final year of doing the NaPoWriMo challenge of thirty poems in thirty days. However, I'm sitting here in The Philippines thinking about the global aspect of the challenge and I really want to get a few thoughts down in this bloggage and elsewhere online. I won't be posting to any of the prompt sites or doing any of the prompts (although, never say never).

CHARIOTS
Chariots race
up and down
like worker ants
from town to town

Day Eight

DAY EIGHT

TO BUDSHEAD CREEK
The angry Troglodyte motorbike gangs
with their flailing chains of steel
Pull wheelies on the forest track outback
and slip slide towards the creek
They live in caves on the housing estate
not a million miles away

On sunny days we walk along the path
to Tamerton Lake and watch
The little boats that only seem to
go bobbing on the ebb and flow
At the bottom of the garden the forest
dips down to Budshead Creek

Day Seven

DAY SEVEN

CONFINED
Sitting here confined by the flu listening to radio five live
'Cos I won't pay Sky there's not a lot that I can do to change the score
I've heard them say it's just a game but what do they know they're just a bore

Day Three 2015

JESUS CHRIST
Jesus Christ, if we had known who He was, would we have crucified him?
