Day Ten

DAY TEN

CHUCKLE HOCK
Chuckle hock like you're not going to stop
Pop goes the weasel (and stoat) till next week
Seek and you will - find out - what you can do
Candorous as the pawn shop barber is
Isabel doesn't ride her trike no more
Ore iron ore any old iron Ron
Ronaldo I buy anything (dot) com
Come on those days have long long gone come on
Come on City it's time to do your stuff
Stuff the Mickey's tonight make me happy
Happy as Larry and up with the lark
Barking for England a walk in the park
Dark as a daffodil - a daffodil?
A daffodil? - That's daft - like chuckle hock

NaPoWriMo 2017 Day Sixteen

DAY SIXTEEN

SOME AWFUL DISEASE                                                                                       Down in the basement
with the cold damp air
they put me there to cure me
Cure me from some
awful disease that they
imagine that I’ve got
Gothic style revival
like Manchester town hall
couldn’t make me well
Wells of water spring up
from underground lakes
until they fill my soul
Soul power versus faith
rejecting belief
in anything but self
Selfish as a troglodyte on heat
clubbing people with a big stick
Sticking to the same old
made up story that no one really believes
Eve’s coming to the party
to celebrate and eat a lot of cake

NaPoWriMo 2017 Day Six

DAY SIX

RUTH’S BICYCLE
Down below deep down under the pavement
Entertaining Ruth was not that much fun
Fundamentally everything was wrong
Hong Kong was never as tough as this gig

Gigantic as the buildings seem they fall
Autumn comes at the same time every year
Tears can’t stop uni-ted from happening
Ingenious as imagination

Station after station one stop closer
Seriously digging under the road
Broad as the highway may be it still hurts
Ruth’s bicycle would never go that fast

Aston Villa were a big club back then
Hen parties stag nights down below deep down

Day Twenty Two

Day Twenty Two

ITZY BITZY
When the sun is shining right through
Rough as you are and feeling blue
Phew Itzy Bitzy Timbucktoo
Choose to be there I want you too

Phew relief that you came back home
Rome is no place for one so young
So young Itzy Bitzy like you
Bleu as they say you are en France

Dancing cool to the latest dance
Romance like Venice and Paris
Marry in the Blacksmith’s workshop
Hop on a train to Gretna Green

Seen scene everybody’s seen you
You know it’s Earth Day when the sun …

Day Twenty One

Day Twenty One

FIGHTING FOR LIFE
Standing still revolving at the same time
Itemise this and that throw the other
Her blanket keeps her warm on the dry nights
Nights when it rains she sleeps under the arch

The arches where all the addicted go
Going there is the worst thing that she hates
She hates it more than queuing up for food
Food that she gets once a day God bless her

Her and a million like her sleep outside
Outside in all weathers fighting for life
File this that and the other sling your hook
Cook some soup take it down to the kitchen

The kitchen where the fire is always hot
Shot to bits on a Saturday so what

Day Nine

NaPoWriMo 2016

Day Nine

I couldn't understand the prompt at NaPoWriMo
today so I wrote a FlameThrower.

BABIES KNOW
Happy don’t come easy sideways
Sway the boat don’t rock it baby
Babies know much more than we think
Inking forearms is forbidden

Denton is on another plane
Lane after country lane we drive
Arriving home before midnight
Night turns into daytime too soon

On the day God created man
Manchester was what He wanted
Granted it took some time to do
Don’t things always look so upbeat?

Eat yourself stupid they won’t care
Are you mad or really happy?

Three Word Wednesday Week 468

Hateful
Limp
Marvel

REPROGRAMMED
Know not what - I could run away again
Gainsborough or some other little town
Owners of robots – your pet slaves hate you
Youthful as I am I’m starting to rust
Trust me I’ve been reprogrammed by the man

Manchester was never this paranoid
Humanoids all look the same to robots
Bottoms up like a farmer’s wife or three
Three blind mice in Grimsby limp past the post
Posters up on the billboards are hateful
Fuelling a revolt from Cleethorpes worldwide

I’d much rather hide before they catch me
Mesmerising me phew stainless steel parts
Arts and crafts they marvel - but - know not what

Day Twenty Nine

Nearly there...

YOUR CALL
Every time she calls me up I’m sleeping
Weeping on my pillow the night time through
Rough as the proverbial you know what
Hatters aren't as mad as they've been painted
Tainted love jilted like John and his ilk

Silk ties are back in fashion at Oxfam
Families can't afford to shop there these days
Way too expensive for the average Joe
Joking aside why do they charge so much
Such and such and all her friends won't go there

Here I am still crying over spilt milk
Silk ties and fancy scarves will have to wait
It’s not as easy as some people think
Drinking myself to death over that girl
Shirley I’m too tired to answer your call

Day Ten

ACHES
my head aches so much I can hardly walk
talking about aches I've got lots of pains
pins and needles in my leg sometimes too
two or three steps uphill and that’s me done
once upon a time I used to walk miles
miles and miles in fact last week with a smile
smiling at people everywhere I went
entertaining them when I fell over
over and over again but laughing
things aren't the same now that my leg’s swelled up
head up it could be worse my right big toe
don’t you know gets a bit of gout in it

NaPoWriMo 2014 DayThirty

Day Thirty

WONDERFUL TIMES
After the highs come a rake of lows
Slow down and let those pills start to flow
To flow or not to fly that is the Western
Stern like Victorian laughter after

Wonderful times for all and sundry
Sun dry the washing it won't take too long
Longing to meet you let’s make it a date
Dates or figs we'll have wonderful times

Twenty fourteen is no mean year dot com
Come on in the water’s wet hold my towel
Two Wellington boots and a penny chew
Choose me first for fun in twenty fourteen

NaPoWriMo 2014 Day Twenty-Six

Day Twenty-Six

WHY WON’T SHE
Why won’t she talk to me these days no more
Oregon is a long way from Ukraine
UK rain comes and goes comes much more though
Rough as the proverbial bear she waits

It’s Saturday morning time for shopping
Ping pong was never this much fun before
Oregon isn't all that far away

Say something please I’m not out to get you
You’re hurting me so much talk to me please
Easy over girl or sunny side up
Cup of coffee or tea or just some milk

Silk scarves and leather handbags from the shops
She hops along the street but still won’t talk
Walks the other way when she sees me why

NaPoWriMo 2014 Day Twenty-Two

Day Twenty-Two
Earth Day

FOREVER
You are my song my sword and my pen
Whenever I call you are there for me
For me again and again forever
Forever and ever amen again

In the wilderness you hold my hand
And your words uplift me when I am dry
Try me I will be with you forever
Forever and ever amen again

Gaining paradise by grace through faith
Faithfully you will return so soon
Sooner or later I’ll be there too
Too many people think the earth is all

Call things from the rooftops if you must
Trust in something someone greater than you

NaPoWriMo Day Six

Day Six

TheSunday Whirl – Wordle 155
Strap Swing power tough diamond waterfall suspend unit zip detail barrier pleat

SEATTLE WASN'T LIKE THIS
She’s always had this thing about swing
String her from the lamppost suspend her there
Hear her scream about how tough things can be
Between lovers on the sea shore tonight

Right the devil’s in the detail making
Taking everything back to his unlit
Unit deep deep down in the dark blue sea
Seattle wasn't like this yesterday

Day after day I think about the strip
Strap it on my belt paint it on my lip
Zip under the barrier and pluck a
Pucker diamond from the waterfall

Almost done this whirl is fun to complete
Pleat and power I’ll leave her swinging there

NaPoWriMo Day Four

Day Four
NaPoWriMo 2014

Today’s optional prompt is to write a lune.
I tried but it was a mind numbing exercise, so I threw this little flamethrower together instead.

PENDULUM GONE
Orange as her brightly painted toes
Shows no shows that come and go and went
Spent like the blue hue of candle light
Night after mellow yellow morning dew

Due to the time of day we try to swing
Bring on the pendulum gone crazy
Lazy as a Sunday afternoon
Tune up the old banjo red balloon

Soon it will be midnight and much too late
To skate and date and double date for fun
One or two of us will be left standing
Banging in the purple rain again

Insane as her bluntly pierced nose
Throws up all the money that she spent

Three Word Wednesday CCCLXXI

The words this week at 3WW are:
Cunning
Degenerate
Emaciated

Here's my attempt:

UNDER THE LIME TREE
You could hear her coming pounding running
Cunning as a fox one foxy lady
Shady as that day under the Lime tree
She really knew her way across the State

Degenerate reprobate and panting
Ranting and raving foaming at the mouth
South of the city but well north of hell
Well she did say that I would lose my soul

Soled and high heeled shiny in shoe shined shoes
Choose me she declared I want to want you
Chew you up spit you out onto the street
Treat you like an emaciated fool

After a while...

THEY WERE ALWAYS
GOING TO LET YOU DOWN
after a while a pattern emerges
verges on similarity the same
insane insanity which way is up
upper new york state was never like this

thistles and thorns can scratch me to death too
two or three times a week isn't enough
tough they say and get back in their new car
karaoke would be the cool thing now

nowhere else to go what say you
you’re all I live for nothing else matters
hatters are said to be a little mad
madness isn't as bad as it’s painted

tainted with sadness I’m falling asleep
falling asleep never to wake again

NaPoWriMo 2013 Day Thirty

NaPoWriMo 2013
Day Thirty

WHEELS WITHIN WHEELS
Any bit of sunshine brings them out
outside my front gate this morning
mourning the death of this cold spring
rings on their fingers banging tins.

Tinsel town it's not - Sunchester
Manchester with wheels - tyres screeching
ching ching cheers the mad mullah sings
singing over his car radio.

Radiotelegraphy phew!
hewn with an axe wheels within wheels
heels from Columbia - streetwise
wisdom comes from knowledge acquired.

Acquitted but guilty as sin
Sinbad  says - any bit of sunshine.

NaPoWriMo 2013 Day Twenty-Nine

NaPoWriMo 2013
Day Twenty-Nine

THE GRASS IS GREENER
The grass is greener shorter than before
foreigners come and go the seasons change
anger consumes the abused - boils over
undercover officers roam the streets.

Treat or trick she says dipping his pocket
skyrocket taking his bus fare back home
homesick as a suicidal student
entering the lions den for the first time.

Timepleasers sheltering under the trees
essentially in the shadows dealing
lingering there no longer than they need
needlework inked in the prison workshop

Shop work wages won't pay the rent boys rent
rents his clothes plants trees - the grass is greener.

NaPoWriMo 2013 Day Twenty-Four

NaPoWriMo 2013
Day Twenty-Four

WINNERS AND LOSERS
They build you up and then they knock you down
Downtown Chicago winners and losers
Los Angeles is a bit like that too
Tomorrow another thousand will come.

Welcome to America and all that
Thatchers bricklayers and hatters wanted
Tedious as it might seem to the poor
Or even more so to the rich out there.

Here they come Ellis Island once again
In their droves to build the Chicago Loop
Loopy as a two bit Hollywood flake
Lake Michigan will never be the same.

Samantha changed her name and became Sam
Sambucas for the winners as they build.

NaPoWriMo 2013 Day Twenty-Two

NaPoWriMo 2013
Day Twenty-Two

HER/HIMSELF
Writing her/himself into history
his/her story was much the same as mine
minerals buried deep beneath the ground
sounds like nature's taking over again.

Ayn Rand and her cultist followers
Lower Manhattan's never been the same
Sambucas wouldn't help them that much
that much I do know about  these things.

Ingenuity comes in droves sometimes
time's running out for some of us
usually it's me that's running away
way down south and up the yellow brick road.

Frog and Toad we're off to see the Wizard
arduous as it is it beats writing.
