YOUR SAUCY SMILE
The way you smile, I still can't forget.
I fell for you on the night we met.
When you said, you love me.
I said, I love you three!
Saucy smile, you do it for me yet.

TOP 11 ROAD SIGN REDUX
SIGN ONE
MOSS SIDE POST OFFICE.
The workers slow down in
their company bankrolled cars
and sneak a peak at us.
We're dressed in leathers and
designer gear that they can't afford.
They, look at the 'Queue Here'
notice and smile. It's
PRINCESS ROAD POST OFFICE
and it's Crimbo Giro day!
Two policemen monitor the line
but some bright spark, has changed
the letters round on the sign.
After 'Queue Here' it reads:
TO CRAP ON PISSED OFFICERS.

Giro = Welfare check
Pissed = Drunk
Crap = Bodily function No. 2
Crimbo = Christmas
SIGN TWO
KEEP RIGHT EXCEPT TO PASS
Drive slow, unless you want to go fast!
Or: Stay on the road – keep off the grass!
It still read: KEEP RIGHT EXCEPT TO PASS
The last time I drove by, but that’s me.
You see, this other guy, this gamer
He saw a completely different sign
When he uni-cycled up the road

RWP#5 Hanging In The Park
Taken from,
Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll.
My ten words were:
Melancholy, Words, Games, Lessons, King,
Summer, Fountains, Days, Name, Executioner.
HANGING IN THE PARK
She sang a melancholy song
Her words, who knows they’re from the ark
The games she played were all so dark
Under the bandstand in the park.
The lessons that she should have learnt
About the Princess, King and Queen
Were put aside so she could dream
About what summer might have been.
She showered in the fountains there
Her numbered days were much the same
Until the judges called her name
When the executioner came.

TOP 10 Birds and Bonds

BIRDS AND BONDS
They say that every Dog has his day someday,
the top Dogs are the Stray Dogs that hunt in packs
they growl and travel a lot of ground until
the Dog Handler with the white van catches them
with his Shepherds Crook and takes them to the pound.
Alley Cats are king in the concrete jungle
each one has its own hunting zone. In Moss Side
the back alleyways are a litter strewn mess,
Rats, Mice and Cockroaches feed on rotten food.
When they’re hungry the Cats hunt from yard to yard.
We get Magpies, Seagulls and Robin Red Breasts
coming to visit now and then and Starlings.
One day I saw a flock of birds flying by
I only ever saw one nest in the park
and only then, in the top of a tall tree.
I saw a Squirrel once, climbing on our shed.
And Foxes, spotted in car headlights at night
crafty as they are they’re no match for the Cats.
As for the Pigeons, the Washing Machine Man
is the only one who feeds these birds and bonds.

RWP#4 Confession
Picture: The Sacred Heart Catholic Church at St Aubins Village in Jersey.
CONFESSION
The last time I went to church was in my teens,
blue jeans, sweet dreams, cool themes.
Only, there was this one sin I needed to get off my chest, one thing!
I thought that God missed me all these years but he couldn’t see me for sin.
That’s what the priest at St Aubins told me anyhow, when I told him.
It was the summer of seventy-four, we spent it on the beach there.
And another five round the corner at St Brelades, The Golden Sands.
Is there anything else you can tell me, have you touched your naughty thing?
Maybe you’ve touched a girl, got her into trouble, you will burn in hell!
I said no, there’s nothing else, just give me my penance and let me go.
Very well, say three Our Fathers, two Hail Mary’s and a Glory be…
I thanked the Irish Priest and prayed that he and his god could not see me.

But to negotiate the

I might well pack a pic-nic
and spend the night away.
I drove past Kelvedon Hatch
today and until I saw

WI-11 DREAM
dream walk
it should have been a breeze a walk
in the park but there were no trees
or grass the earth was parched dry and
sun cracked – we walked with the other
safari tourists through this place
this barren land - keeping to the
makeshift road following the tyre
tracks of a thousand 4X4’s
that come and go through this harsh land
with its hard baked sand and no wind
then we saw all the dead monkeys
piled high alongside the road
all their tails had been cut-off
why? What for? we kept on walking
on the other side of the track
an even bigger stack of dead
lion and tiger cubs rotting
but not even a bird came to
pick their bones in this desert place
moving talking amongst ourselves
until we saw them sitting there
they looked like they were dead at first
they sat there absolutely still
shuffling uncomfortably
we shuddered as we passed them by
blood spurting out from one mans nose
we can’t believe they’re still alive
a little girl on the tour said:
look daddy that man's not quite dead
but her father dragged her away
‘they haven’t killed the natives yet’
at the end of the walk there was
a stack of leather shoes and some
old cosmetics and toiletries
when we reached the safari lodge
hotel no-one wanted to eat
except one man who insisted
on tasting the monkey-tail soup.

Gordon’s a drinker he likes to
get off on his own. He goes to
places that even most Wino’s
don’t know. They’ve got rats as big as
cats in New York City with scraps
and rich pickings in hotel trash.
Hey, Ratcatcher, What do you say?
If rats will eat pigswill they may
well grow as fat as pigs someday!
So, have you seen Gordon today?
He’s fast asleep in a sewer,
Over on the East Side, stone drunk!
Yeah, but do you think he looks well?
I don’t know, do I? I don’t think!
To say what you said, you just did.
Well, I guess if pigs could fly, we’d
sure have a rat-infested sky!

KICK-ARSE KICKS
Jack-boot kick-arse kicks the Slav, who
cowers on the floor. Clink, clink, pick!
Pickaxe chips. Rock splits, water drips…
“Water, please!" He pleads, "some water?”
Rottweillers straining at their leash
Snap at the thirsty prisoner.
‘Schwein hund!’ The soldier lashes out!
‘The dogs MUST drink the wasser first!’
The barking mad guard un-holsters
his Luger and aims the pistol
at the starving Slavic slaves head.
‘Shizenhausen!’ he screams and fires.
Dying of thirst the naked man
Digs his own grave with bandaged hands.

Blue light flashing
siren sounding.
They reach their destination
drive round the block
radio in:

In the morning you walk

The doors are charred
the glass in the window frames
has gone.
It smells like

My name’s Joe but they call me Slow ‘cos
I really didn’t know - she dumped me.

Consolation Prize! TOP 3 Horse
CONSOLATION PRIZE
(FOR SALLY)
VERY SOON!
More arty than artisan
much more crafty than craftsman
but my bathroom's almost done
all the tiles except one...
Wall that is - but very soon
it will look right, then I'll be
bathing - morning, noon and night.
71095
Totally Optional Prompts
ONE HORSE
The Kings soldiers come in the night
kill his father, rape his mother.
'You can't make a silk purse...' they curse
as they force the pig farmers wife
one after another till dawn.
They tie the boy to a donkey
so that he has to run behind.
They ride out of the piggery,
fording the cold stream at first light.
When they are sure the boy can't read
they cut out his tongue for the dogs
and brand him with a hot iron
urinating on his fresh wound
they leave him lying there bleeding
for the camp-followers to find.
In an un-interpretable
hieroglyphic of his own hand
he scrawls his last thoughts on the wall
of the royal stable in blood:
One horse powers a thousand dreams...

TOP 2 Lute - Player
LYRE - LIAR!
Lyre and flute you play each day
the wood wind sends a shrill thrill,
songs we used to make love to
the lute player is no liar!

TOP 1 Salt Girl, A Poem, Plucky Pluckers.
SALT GIRL:
Taste it with your tongue
lick it from my lips
my neck my breast
my hips my lips
and salivate inside
until you come
back to the sea.
TOP1-121007
A POEM
A short story is
so many words
a novelette is
a little longer but
shorter than a novel.
And a poem,
a really short poem
can say more in
just a few lines,
in one thought almost,
than a trillion epic volumes,
written by the wrong man.

PLUCKY PLUCKERS
Talent is a
two way street
a dead heat in an
egg and spoon race.
We've all got it,
but for what?
And where is it?
Even if you can
find it - define it?
How does one
express it?
When there's so
many other happy
go plucky pluckers
out there!

For National Poetry Day:
Portrait of Mario by Amedeo Modigliani 1920 - Mario Varvogli the Greek musician was reputedly the last person to sit for Modigliani before his premature death in 1920 - pic credit myartprints.co.uk where you can purchase this poster.
TOUT - TOUT...
Tout le monde,
Montparnasse to Montmartre.
The street theatre of art.
Jeanne, oh what a dream
it all must have seemed
in nine-teen seven-teen.
Buongiorno Livorno!
Uno vino rosso, per favore.
Don't you know that the -
fruit of the vine -
is the fuel of the drug.
Amore, they say in the
language of love.
Dolce Vita! Mario.
He sits for the portrait
that hangs on my wall.
He's very thin +
he's very tall.
From Athenia to Pigalle
he's seen it all.
And the artist draws a fine line,
for a bottle of wine.
Rouge, blanc, rose.
They all go down the same way.
Day after day,
by the banks of the Seine.
And even Modigliani can dance.
Modi, Modi, Modi!
Yeah, you really showed the moda
how to take off all her clothes.
Nu couche,
Qu'est que c'est?
C'est la vie!
C'est tout...

TALKING LAMBRETTA'S
It was one of those days
that sticks in your mind
that you'll never forget
for the rest of time.
And yet, I met a geezer
just yesterday. We were
talking Lambretta's and
Mods and things...
But it still took us
ten minutes to discover
that we knew each other.
and that he was with me
on that day!

Song #15
WHEN YOU COME
When you come
knocking on my door
I'll take you back
like I did before,
'coz I luv you!
I love you
more + more...
Hey, yeah you!
I miss you,
yes I do!
And every day
that passes by
I cry + I cry
'coz I miss you
more + more!
Hey, yeah you!
I love you
yes I do!
repeat 27907

Wednesday not Tuesday...
ONE LAST REQUEST
They say that
you're the best.
Much better
than the rest.
If I could have
one last request.
I'd put their theory
to the test.
I'd ask to spend
my last night
loving you!
I've heard about
the things you do.
No doubt you'd make
my dreams come true.
If only 'til, the bullet
hits my chest.

Autumn Gold...
WHEN THE NIGHTIME'S OVER
When summer green leaves
turn to autumn gold...
When the nightime's over and
daylight filters through to dawn.
That's when the cats come home
and the butterflies are born.
That's when the birds sing loudest
and the frogs spawn.
When summer green leaves
turn to autumn gold that's
when the party's over.
Or so I've been told!
